As you drive through the brick walled private drive entrance just across
from Valley View Golf course you can see the fish stocked lake on your
right.
If you take the right fork and go up the hill you will see a beautiful
view of the lake and the
Fairfield
County
landscape as you continue up the tree lined driveway.
Around the curve just ahead the subject home comes into view and you see
the front elevation of the 1974 Tudor style home.
From this vantage point your view of the 5 + acre wooded ravine lot is
spectacular with just enough open space to make it livable and plenty of
mature trees to make this the private retreat that you have been looking
for. The
Pennsylvania
fieldstone on the exterior of the home and the quaint composite slate
style roof belies its original 1970’s design with a classic material and
texture touch from that era. The
circular drive sweeps past the entry and over toward the front of the 4
car garage.
In the 1990’s the home was expanded when an indoor pool and 4 car garage
were added as well as a tennis/basketball court.
We have repainted the entire exterior of the home; cleaned up the existing
landscaping and replaced the existing windows with Semco aluminum clad
wood casement windows.
As you approach the covered porch entry you see the original leaded glass
double door w/ the new oil rubbed bronze handle set entry lock with dead
bolt security.
Open the door and step into the new 2-story entry with computer loft
overlook and large bronze finish light fixture at the focal point of the
space.
The travertine style tile on the floor and fluted columns create a
beautiful entry to this newly remodeled interior.
Just off the entry is the powder bath with tile floor and walls continuing
from the entry area and new maple cabinetry and granite custom top vanity
with vessel sink bowl and oil rubbed bronze filler faucet and fixtures.
The living room is just to your right with the fluted column entry, box
seat front window and 2 other windows to bring the awesome views into the
room. The new sculptured low
pile plush carpeting sets off the room in an elegant way.
Back and to the right is the formal study with its large triple window
affording a view of the tree lined ravine behind the home.
This room has stained and lacquered library paneling and a rustic
Pennsylvania
fieldstone fireplace with glass doors and gas log lighter.
Complete the renovation with a patterned texture berber carpet and
this is a great private retreat for contemplation and relaxation.
On the rear of the home straight ahead of the foyer is the formal dining
room which is now open to the stairway and has a complimentary fixture to
the entry. Its large triple window
has a great view of the large back yard and tree lined ravine.
The sculptured low pile plush carpeting completes this warm family
friendly space.
Just to your left is
the fluted column entrance to the expansive new kitchen.
The champaign maple cabinets and the new granite countertops
combine for a light and airy kitchen.
The modern stainless steel appliances, large gas cook top, double
oven, dishwasher, built-in refrigerator and microwave make this kitchen
look like it was constructed in a new home.
The 9’ island provides ample work space for the cook in the
family as well as open contact to anyone in the family room or dinette.
The fluted columns
open this space to the family room with its large box seat window and gas
fireplace with glass doors and custom stained and lacquered built-ins
surrounding it. Add the
sculptured low pile plush carpeting and the room is complete. Looking
back toward the entry you will see the fluted column archway to the foyer
and just to the left an open stairway to the basement recreation room.
As
you go down the stairs the beautiful stair trim work from the entry greets
you and the stair empties into a spacious open area with a walkout patio
door overlooking the ravine in the rear and a massive
Pennsylvania
fieldstone gas lighter fireplace.
The entire space is carpeted in the patterned texture berber carpet
from the study creating a warm and welcoming play space for your family.
Right
adjacent to this space are two unfinished basement spaces which provide
ample storage space as well as mechanical space for a wash sink,
furnace, water heater, water softener, electrical service panel and well
pump pressure system. A cold
storage/safe area is provided under the front porch for those who may be
concerned about storms or would like a place to store canned goods and
etc.
Returning to the
kitchen area and going out of the spacious dinette through the patio door
to the screened porch ideal for warm weather relaxation or dining with
access to the gas grill station patio and the basement level walkout patio
and back yard. This space is floored with durable berber carpeting
which should withstand the demands of the weather that it will experience.
Back in the dinette
and away from the kitchen is a hallway to the ¾ bath, spacious laundry
and unique pool bar room. The
¾ bath has a 4’ shower with clear glass door and a spacious vanity with
vessel bowl and oil rubbed bronze filler faucet.
Travertine style wall and floor tile accent this sensible bath.
A good sized storage closet is located inside the bath as well.
Out of that bath and
to the right you enter the large laundry area with ample maple cabinetry
and a large laundry sink. There
are two coat storage closets also in the room and the floor is done in
travertine style tile.
Through the large door
you will find a unique space that we call the pool bar room.
There is plenty of room for a pool table and casual seating/eating
area. The large granite bar and service area includes space for a
refrigerator and a bar sink as well as ample maple cabinetry for service
and storage. The bar work area
is done in travertine style tile and the remaining space is floored with a
patterned berber carpet to resist water from the pool area.
This space opens visually and actually to the indoor pool area
where you will find a large area with a 16’ x 32’ in ground pool
surrounded by a textured color concrete deck and complete with a new liner
and all new pool filtering equipment including a heater.
The pool is 3’ deep on the one end and 8’ deep on the other.
9 sets of sliding glass doors with screen doors open the pool area
to the outside in the summer months and close it to the elements in the
less temperate months. Adjacent
to this area and over looking the ravine is a large wood deck with full
edge seating for you and your guests to relax and enjoy the view this
whole area is just next to the gas grill deck that you saw from the screen
porch area.
The pool area as well as the
pool bar room is heated by a separate gas furnace in the equipment room at
the far end of the pool area. Space
and hookup for a hot tub is also provided in that end of the pool area.

Through the door at
the end of the pool area you enter the huge 4 car garage with work bench,
double operator controlled new insulated metal paneled garage doors and
8’ project door.
Back in the entry
foyer you can ascend the stair case to the open computer loft/seating loft
and then make you way around that end of the second floor to see the 3
nice sized bedrooms with nice closet spaces and the sculptured low pile
plush carpet from the downstairs living areas.
The grand view from this upper foyer area to the entry below is
wonderful and creates a very stately look to the entire space.
Just down the hall the
main bath has been redone with a newly refinished tub with tile surround
matching the new tile on the floor. The
vanity area has 2 vessel bowl stations on a designer granite top with oil
rubbed bronze filler faucets and accessory fixtures to match.
The new maple cabinetry with recessed mirrors and overhead recessed
can lighting sets off this bath perfectly. A nice sized linen closet
completes the bath.
Back in the hallway to
your left is the entrance to the newly designed master bedroom suite.
As you enter, behind the door is a linen closet for ample storage.
The door to your left opens into a spacious master bathroom with a 5’
shower with a clear glass door trimmed in oil rubbed bronze.
His and hers vanity stations are the focus of the bath with new
maple cabinetry recessed mirrors and recessed can lighting.
Each vanity has a granite top with china vessel bowl lav and oil
rubbed bronze wall mounted filler faucet.
Nestled between two windows is the large corner whirlpool tub that
sits in a travertine style tile tub deck which matches the floor and
shower wall tile for a clean uniform stylish look.
The isolated private toilet room gives you that alone feeling when
you need it.
As you leave the bath
and walk toward the bedroom area you pass his and her walk-in closets one
of which has a place for a stack washer and dryer for your step-saving
convenience. Just past the closets is
a large master bedroom area with vaulted beamed ceiling and plenty of view
revealing windows. The master
bedroom is large enough for a seating area and an entertainment center.
It would be the perfect place to end your long busy day.
The home is heated and
cooled by 3 gas furnaces 2 of which have A/C systems.
One system is located in the basement utility area and serves the
first floor living area. The
second system is located in the attic and serves the 2nd floor
living area. The third furnace
as mentioned before serves the pool area and adjacent locations.
The two A/C units are brand new and are equipped with the modern
efficiency units.
The exterior of this
home contains many outdoor amenities.
In addition to the manicured lawn, outdoor screen porch, patios and
decks mention earlier there is a fenced in tennis/basketball court with
its own equipment shed and night time lighting.
There is also a fenced kennel area for caring for pets.
This newly renovated home
and grounds with its privacy, isolation and views is a great value for
anyone in the market for a nice private estate.
Come out to this home and see it for yourself.
We think that you will agree that this once 6 bedroom 3 ½ bath
home from the 70’s has found its place in the new millennium and at just
under $700,000 it is a steal.
